Documents required to open or modify your Swissquote trading account:


Personal or joint account

A valid ID and Address verification are required to open a Swissquote trading account. Depending on your country of residence, please send us the following:

Residents of: all EU/EEA member states, Australia, Brazil, Canada, Hong Kong, India, South Korea, Mexico, Singapore, Switzerland and South Africa:

We require you to provide ONE document from list (a) and ONE document from list (b) in the table below.

Residents of: China, New Zealand, Russia, Bahrain, Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia and United Arab Emirates:

We require you to provide TWO documents from list (a) and TWO documents from list (b) in the table below.

Alternatively, if you cannot provide TWO documents from list (a) and (b) we will accept ONE certified copy* from each list.

Residents of: all other countries:

We require you to provide ONE certified* document from list (a) and ONE certified* document from list (b) in the table below.

Residents of: USA, Japan, British Colombia, Ontario.

Unfortunately due to global banking and regulatory restrictions, we are unable to process any applications from residents of the countries / jurisdictions listed above.

(a) ID Verification
(Non Expired)

  • Passport; or
  • Photocard Driving Licence; or
  • National ID Card

(b) Address Verification

  • Bank Statement; or
  • Utility Bill (gas, water, electric, landline telephone); or
  • Credit Card Statement

Address Verification:

The document must be dated within 3 months and include your full name and current residential address, and the issuer and date must be visible.

We do not accept: TV licenses, mobile phone bills, insurance bills, electronically generated PDF or internet printouts statements/bills and documents for PO BOX addresses.

*Certification: All copies must be certified by a lawyer, solicitor, accountant, bank manager or notary public as a "true copy of the original". It must include the stamp, full name, address, registration/ employee number, date and signature of the person performing the certification. The certification must be carried out within 3 months on the copy of the document and the person that certifies the document must be independent and have no connection to the individual or company.

Please Note: If you have applied for a joint account we require both applicants to provide the necessary documentation.

We may call for certain additional supporting documents including evidence of source of wealth or funds.

Corporate Accounts

In order for us to open a corporate account we require you to provide us with the following:

  • Articles of Association
  • Proof of Business Address
  • Company Incorporation Certificate
  • Verification of Shareholders owning over 25%**
  • Verification of 2 Directors**
  • Share Register

** If any of the directors or shareholders is a corporate entity we require the entity's articles of association, proof of business address, certificate of incorporation and verification of the directors and shareholders.

** If any of the directors or shareholders is a private individual, we require them to provide ID and Address verification in line with our personal account requirements.
In line with our country categories above, based on where the company is registered documents may have to be certified*.

Depending on the company structure, we may call for certain additional supporting documents.
